GIFT CARDS

As the school year comes to a close, we take this opportunity to thank all of the gift card program supporters. Without you, this program could not have been such a success. Thank you!

Please order the gift cards you will need through the middle of August by May 25. All cards will be mailed in early June. Summer inventory after this first mailing will be limited until the new school year starts. A special order for Whole Foods, Sprouts, Walmart, Sams, Target etc. will be placed one more time this school year, as well. Please send me your order so that I can make an accurate order to have enough cards for everyone.

Contact Jeanette Timco at 789-7896, 451-0665, or 414-7909. I always have cards with me at school.

The community is invited to attend a year-end guitar recital on Tuesday, May 15, at 6 p.m. in the theater. The advanced classes have formed "bands" and will be performing a self-led song while the beginner class will perform as a large ensemble on three classic tunes.

Please come out and support the guitar program next Tuesday evening.

PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT

A week ago, following the Mid-Season tournament at the kickball fields by Murchison, a few teams came out to practice at the fields. During this time, a couple of APD officers stopped by to inform the parents/coaches present at that time of an incident that occurred within the general area (closer to HEB). Apparently an African American male, approximately 5'10" in height, approached a young girl (age 11) near the HEB. He stated that he had been watching her in the neighborhood and that he was lonely. They did not report any physical contact but warned that it could potentially escalate to that in the future. Based on some of the comments reported by the 11-yr old girl, APD believes the man lives in the area.

HEROS COMMITTEE – Volunteers needed for 2012-2013 school year

HEROs is a committee needing over 125 volunteers like YOU to help our teachers with their daily needs for the 2012-2013 school year. This wonderful committee was created because of the AISD budget cuts that will still affect Anderson High School. The hours we save our teachers in the workroom gives them more time to focus on our students. All it takes is 1-2 hours of your volunteer time a week to make this committee a success! The teachers are so appreciative of the HEROs program we created for them this year. The HEROs Committee was recognized as Anderson High School's "Volunteer Group of the Year" by Austin Partners in Education.

Information packets are available in the front office and in the HEROs Workroom, room 133.

Please join us and make a difference!
